What are NYT Connections?
Wordle is one of the reputable puzzle games that has won the title of online game stable due to the completion of the 1000th puzzle on 25th March, 2024. It shows that this game is the star of grabbing headlines these days on the biggest news agency “The New York Times.” But, this is not the end of the story. The one who won the title of the dark horse last June goes to Connections.
Last night, I was trying to solve a puzzle on Connections and I realized that I’m making a few or no mistakes while solving my favorite puzzles. A few guesses were enough to complete the Connections puzzles. That’s why I have decided to write a complete guide for naive users about what exactly are NYT Connections. Let’s follow the footprints of this guide to know each and everything about it.
Here we go!
What Exactly Are NYT Connections?
The name of the game clearly implies its interpretation and meaning. Connections is an interesting puzzle game that has the capacity to put your thinking cap to the test. In this game, you’ll be presented with a 4×4 grid of 16 words. Your mission is to find the hidden links between these words.
Also, your main task is to group four words together that share a common thread or connection. Then, you would have to repeat this process three more times until all 16 words are neatly categorized. Thus, I can say confidently that it’s a game of associations, patterns, and clever connections between available words.
Wyna Liu’s Puzzling Editing:
The twisting part is that the puzzle editor, Wyna Liu of the Times associate has chosen selective words that are masterfully ambiguous. She make them susceptible to multiple interpretations and groups. So…don’t become fool due to obvious connections – like “oh, these four words are all related to animals!”
This is because and the obvious chances are that is exactly what she wants you to think. Instead of making sudden decision, you should think out of the box and see what are more subtle relationships between the words. I must say that Wyna Liu designed a puzzle that requires keen mind that has willingness to challenge your own assumptions.
Understand The Categories of Puzzles:
Remember, each group of four words in the NYT Connections fits snugly into one of these categories:
- Yellow – the easiest one
- Green – it knows how to ups the ante
- Blue – this category requires some serious brainpower
- Purple – it is dubbed “Tricky” by the NYT puzzle masters – and for good reason
Hence, the NYT Connections game will immediately reveal the answers if you make first four mistakes. But don’t worry, it is all part of the learning process of this amazing Connections puzzle. So, take a deep breath, juggle up your mental muscles, and try again. I hope you can you conquer the Connections puzzle just like I do in the first try.
Wrapping – Up: Become Connections Master!
That’s all about the guide about what is NYT Connections and what is inside it. To be honest, Connections main matto is to confuse you and trick you through their deep strategic tricks. I’ll never forget the puzzle that threw me for a loop with the words “Bob,” “Sponge,” “Square,” and “Pants.” I mean, who wouldn’t think they are all related to Bikini Bottom? But nope, each one belonged to a totally separate group.
And then there was the sneaky puzzle in the NYT Connections road that required me to link “Rose,” “Expose,” “Resume” and “Pate.” Everyone was thinking that the connection is because of their meanings. But, it was all because of their accents. I mean, who expects to need a crash course in French pronunciation to solve a puzzle? Applaud for you if you saw that connection coming. You are a true NYT Connections mastermind.
